ELMER'S TEACHERS CLUB LOGO

My kids and I do quite a bit of crafts and projects in our homeschooling. One of our favorite things to do are experiments, it definitely keeps my kids attention. Elmer’s Glue recently sent me a Elmer’s Teaching Toolkit.

The kit consisted of:

Too Much Glue hardback book by Jason Lefebvre.

Although Matty’s art teacher has warned him that too much glue never dries, Matty loves glue. After all, he and his dad make oodles of glue projects at home. One day during art class, Matty finds the fullest bottles of glue, and the fun begins. With a squeeze and a plop, Matty pours a lake of glue before belly-flopping right in the middle and finds himself stuck to the desk. When Matty’s dad arrives at the school, instead of being mad, he celebrates his son’s creativity and calls him a work of art. With vibrant language and artwork and a wild, silly plot, Too Much Glue is sure to appeal to all children who love to get messy.

My kids loved this book. We were on the edge of our seats to find out what was going to happen to Matty. Was he stuck on his desk for good or would they pry him lose?  What a fun book for kids accompanied with whimsical brightly colors illustrations.

Elmer’s School Glue

The World of Glue – A cross curricular investigation of adhesives for grades K-5. This interactive inquiry-based instructional unit teaches students about adhesives in their world of day to day activities. Students will understand  the properties of common adhesives and the science of polymers that create the fundamental building blocks of adhesives essential to so many of the products that we use every day. The learning experiences provided within this guide address English/language arts, writing, science, history and art for students grades K-5.

One of the activities my kids and I did was the Compare and Contrast which was using all 3 of the Elmer’s glue sent to us.

elmers experiment 1

We drizzled some glue on paper and allowed it to dry over night. Then my son and I discussed the differences between the glues. Did they look different? Did they smell the same? What were the difference consistencies? What were the similarities and differences? Then my son filled out the Venn diagram that is in the The World of Glue – A cross curricular investigation booklet and glued it along side our 3 different dried glues.

elmers experiment 2

This was a wonderful experiment even more so since my husband is a chemical engineer! So my boys are learning about glues and polymers up close gaining the knowledge just like their daddy! What a wonderful way to learn especially since this kit is so hands on!

Elmer’s would like to offer one of my readers this Elmer’s Teaching Toolkit so that they can enjoy the love of learning glues and polymers with their children too!
