Travels with Gannon and Wyatt is a middle-grade adventure series written by Patti Wheeler and Keith Hemstreet. The Travels with Gannon and Wyatt series include: Botswana (released May 2013), Great Bear Rainforest (released October 2013) and Egypt (to be released January 2014).

Travels With Gannon and Wyatt- Egypt – After winning a prestigious fellowship from the Youth Exploration Society, Gannon and Wyatt head off on a journey to Egypt. Where they study with world-renowned archaeologist Dr. Mohammed Aziz, joining him on a quest to find the long lost tomb of the Pharaoh Cleopatra, rumored to hold priceless treasures and secret scrolls containing answers to some of ancient Egypt’s greatest mysteries. Gannon and Wyatt are not the only ones interested in Cleopatra’s secrets. Ruthless tomb robbers are hot on their heels, and the brothers must brave venomous snakes, deadly booby traps, and ancient curses as they find themselves on the verge of a magnificent discovery that could rewrite history.
Travels With Gannon and Wyatt – Botswana When Gannon and Wyatt arrive in Botswana for an African safari, they find themselves tangled up in much more than a family vacation. After receiving word that a poacher has shot and wounded a lioness, they set off into the wild in the hopes of saving the mother and her cubs before the poacher finishes the job. While on this amazing journey, they encounter Africa’s Big Five – elephants, rhinos, cape buffalo’s, leopards, and lions?only to discover that the most dangerous predator in the African bush is not the king of beasts, but man himself. 
Travels With Gannon and Wyatt Great Bear Rainforest Gannon and Wyatt can’t wait to trek into the Great Bear Rainforest in search of the mythical spirit bear, but surviving in this unforgiving wilderness proves more challenging than they could have ever imagined. When members of the expedition go missing, the brothers bravely set out on a search-and-rescue mission. Soon they find themselves lost in a forest teeming with grizzlies, wolves and mysterious gunmen. Guided by the wisdom of the First Nation people, the Gannon and Wyatt uncover a sinister plot and must risk everything to save those who are missing and restore balance to the Great Bear. 
My oldest son and I sat down and read these books together. Like myself my son was intrigued and didn’t want to stop reading! These books are so relate able for our family because like Gannon and Wyatt we are homeschoolers too. With the adventure and being homeschooled is what drew my son to these books. What boy or girl would want to read about two adventurous boys who travel the world on exotic adventures learning about cultures and wildlife? These books are journals with photographs and video’s complied on twin brothers; Gannon and Wyatt’s travel expeditions. From a child’s point of view (my son’s) he enjoyed the books because of the animals in the books. Not just your typical animals found at the zoo but animals that are dangerous which makes the story more edgy and exciting. For instance Egypt we were engrossed when Gannon got sucked in a booby trap on the expedition to find Cleopatra’s tomb. My son couldn’t finish reading this portion of the book quick enough to find out what happened to Gannon. 
As a homeschool mom I am always looking for educational tools to add into our homeschooling and these books fit the criteria. Yes they are fictional but they give children a sense of adventure as if they were actually there with Gannon and Wyatt on these explorations. We are incorporating these books into our geography lessons while we dive into these parts of the world. For instance as we read Travels With Gannon and Wyatt – Egypt it prompted my kids to ask questions about pyramids so we did further studies on them. The books held my son’s attention that it left him wanting to learn more. As these books are written in a journal from by children that kids find them fun to read plus the added pictures is a nice touch!

I don’t have any boys in the demographic, but I still hope I win! The books remind me of Mary-Kate & Ashley’s mysteries (which I loved), and the Gannon & Wyatt books sound like a fun read.
