I admit it my kids have a hard time following directions. It is a constant battle. When my husband and I given them instructions we often have them repeat them back to us because sometimes things we say go in one ear and out the other. Pirate Talk can easily be adapted for players to meet each child’s needs by choosing the appropriate prompt(s). Questions build receptive and expressive language skills while targeting five categories of social interaction: School, People, Home, Community, and Activities.

This game indicates it’s for grades kindergarten through 5th grade however, my two year played it! My husband and I love the fact that the game cards have multiple questions that you can ask the child after reading the description of the card. Where they listening or not? Then to be rewarded with pirate treasure coins gives the child an incentive to answer correctly! . The only small negative we found was that the instructions seemed a bit vague, we couldn’t tell if all the questions were to be read on each turn or if they were age dependent. The good thing was that is that Pirate Talk has variations – suggestions for different types of game play for different circumstances. Example: a quick game, hand and eye coordination and so on. Pirate Talk is a clever game, teaching concepts for kids to learn while having fun playing!
